Community Service

Students work with local non-profits to benefit their community! See details through this link for Community Service Log and details.

Students with Quilts

Quilts for Kids

Linked to reading an in-class book (Whirligig), many students choose to make a quilt for babies needing care at the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital. They are distributed to families in a time of tremendous stress and need to make a difference!

PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE SERVICE

Garden Time

The Nature Academy has an extensive garden area that has been built and developed by students and parents. We try to access it as much as possible - 'commraderie of pick and shovel'!

Solar Pond

Located within the garden, students have built a pond, installed a solar panel power station, and are in the final stages of implenting a recirculating pump system. It has required several years and the efforts of many. We are so excited to see it come to be a real world learning situation!

Greenhouse/Rainwater Harvest

Our greenhouse was built with parent help some years ago. Last year a student action project team installed a rainwater catchment system. Our next step is to problem solve a water transfer pump and provide a model for those interested in setting one up themselves!
